Annual Meeting and Election of Officers

Please mark you calendars for CHCA's Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 7 pm. The location is the North Decatur Presbyterian Church (611 Medlock Road, Decatur, GA 30033).

  • Traffic safety issues and improvements for the intersection at North Decatur and Superiorr
  • Development plans for the church property at Scott Blvd / N. Decatur / Medlock Rd (the Fuqua development)
  • Status of the Superintendent search for DCSD and other school issues
  • Neighborhood social events
  • Election of officers

CHCA Annual Meeting at Melton's

CHCA members, renewing members, and wannabe members are invited to join the current board at Melton's App & Tap, Thursday, May 30, at 7 p.m. for our annual meeting.  We are meeting at Melton's in part to support them as a local business, so we encourage attendees to order food and drinks while there.  The nachos will be on us, though.  The only required meeting agenda item is a vote for a new or renewed CHCA Board for 2013-2014.  In addition, we invite members to help us shed light on neighborhood issues -- schools, development, cityhood, parks, crime, communications, etc..  Al Fowler, the new public education specialist for the county police, will be there to answer questions.  We will also graciously accept annual dues, still only $10.  The current board encourages others to take their place.  The load is very light, but some of us on the current board have been on duty probably way too long.  The offices and incumbents are as follows:

CHCA annual meeting 2012 report

About 25 CHCA members met with the board at Melton's App & Tap, Wednesday, May 30.  After the current board reported on the year's activities and issues, they were voted back into office for another year with no objections.  We also heard from Dave Butler about upcoming Mason Mill Park improvements and from Valerie Boss about upcoming Melton Park improvements.  Finally, district 6 commissioner Kathie Gannon gave us an overview of county wide issues.  More details forthcoming.

CHCA Annual Meeting and Block Party May 22

Please join us this Sunday, May 22, 3-6 ish, in the vicinity of Woodmoor and Densley Drives  -- for the CHCA annual meeting and block party.  We'll rent an inflatable for the kids and provide some basic finger food.  Other food or beverage contributions will be welcome.  The meeting part, ca. 5:30, mostly will consist of electing officers to the CHCA board with some updates on current or emerging issues and projects.  Feel free to nominate yourself or another for any of the following slots: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary.  We are especially hopeful to have nominees active in local schools.  Thanks, 2010-2011 CHCA Board (Charles Bleau, Suzan Rowe, Catherine Larson, Nancy Ciliax, and Tim Bryson) Contact us at info AT clairmontheights.org

Notes from annual CHCA meeting

About 40 people attended the annual CHCA meeting Thursday, May 14, at the North Decatur Presbyterian Church. Guests included commissioner Kathie Gannon, County Greenspace director and Nature Preserve representative Dave Butler, and Parks & Rec projects manager John Anderson. After presenting various reports, the current board was re-elected. Reports dealt with the following topics:

The Clairmont Heights Civic Association Annual Meeting is scheduled for May 14, 7pm at North Decatur Presbyterian Church (across Medlock Rd. from Melton's). Agenda tentatively will include status of local redevelopments, Garden Club, transportation plan, sidewalks, and board elections.

Annual Meeting notes

Last night (May 15) about 60 residents showed up to our annual meeting. The CHCA board had set up table displays on CHCA boundaries, the North DeKalb Mall / Costco plan, proposed Entry Signs, and CHCA history, including parks and the PATH trail. After refreshments and introductions of the board member candidates, the election was held and the following board was elected: President: Charlie Bleau Vice President: John Maynard Treasurer: Catherine Larson Recording Secretary: Tim Bryson Corresponding Secretary: Jim Smith

Annual Meeting & Elections

Thursday May 15 - 7pm North Decatur Presbyterian Church Still On - Meeting signs were stolen, but meeting still on The Clairmont Heights Civic Association Annual Meeting is scheduled for May 15, @ 7pm at North Decatur Presbyterian Church (across Medlock Rd. from Melton's). Topics to include status of Medlock Park, PATH status and more. A new board will be elected and proof of residency within our boundaries will be required to vote.
