DECATUR – DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis, Commissioners Kathie Gannon, Jeff Rader and Connie Stokes, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and other community stakeholders recently broke ground for the reconstruction of park features in Mason Mill Park, located at 1400 McDonnell Drive in Decatur. “Parks are an important component of the quality of life in a community,” said CEO Ellis.

A resident asks: "I noticed the 3 houses on Hunting Valley have finally been demolished. Is there any plan for those lots going forward? Is there a possible linkage to Medlock Park?" Dave Butler, local resident and county greenspace manager, responded: "The lots on Hunting Valley Drive were purchased under the FEMA floodplain buyout program and are listed in the county inventory under Roads and Drainage. There is no plan currently to include the lots within Medlock Park because of the separation by the stream and because the lots are not all contiguous.
From Trees Atlanta via Druid Hills Civic Association: Trees Atlanta announced today that it will celebrate twenty-five years of planting and conserving trees in Atlanta, GA with a celebration on the evening of Friday, June 25, 2010. The event is open to the public and citizens who have supported Trees Atlanta over the years as well as those who are new to the non-profit organization are invited to attend. Trees Atlanta will direct a portion of the evening's proceeds toward tree planting and education efforts.
From Chris Beck, president: Dear Supporters of Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve, As you may be aware, we sometimes have problems with teens using the Nature Preserve after dusk, especially after school lets out. Druid Hills High graduates on Friday and Decatur High on the following Friday. The Board of the Preserve is trying to make a concerted effort to discourage this, as it has led to trash and graffiti in the Preserve. The Board will be going by the Preserve on a regular basis and recording the license plate numbers of cars parked outside the Preserve after
