From coordinator Valerie Boss: "Friends of Ira B Melton Park will host a workday on Sunday, March 17 from 9:30-noon. We'll be doing some much needed trail maintenance, as well as clearing invasive plants and trash. All are welcome to join. Please bring your own water and work gloves, and wear shoes suitable for muddy ground. Wheelbarrows, shovels, and clippers are always appreciated. The park entrance is on Desmond Drive, across from Park Lane.

From local resident and Ira B. Melton Park Pride group leader Valerie Boss: The Ira B Melton Park Pride group will meet on Oct 1 from 7-9pm, at North Decatur Presbyterian Church on Medlock Rd just off N Decatur Rd. We¹ll be discussing the county¹s preliminary concept design for the park, as well as our own goals for the upcoming year. New members are welcome.

From Valerie Boss: Dave Butler met with reps from our Park Pride group to discuss the county’s design concepts for the park and bridge. In attendance were Catherine Larson, Tim Bryson, Don Sprinkle, Warner McConaughey, and Valerie Boss.  Dave brought along the just-completed concept design drawing (the design contractor is AMEC) for Ira B Melton Park. From coordinators Marianne Skeen and Valerie Boss: "Once again Boy Scout Troop 534 has helped us to make some significant progress in Ira B. Melton Park. This is the third service trip in our park and the 11 scouts and 7 parents managed to clear a lot of privet from two areas in the park. Team work allowed them to dig out some big roots. They also picked up several bags of trash that surfaced as the privet was removed. A big thank you to Troop 534 from Briarcliff United Methodist Church. Check out the photos here."
