2011 Medlock Garden Tour Seeking Clairmont Heights Gardens

From Lisa Crowder: The Medlock Funky, Elegant, Lush Garden tour just completed its 3rd successful year. For 2011, we'd like to spread out to include gardens in Clairmont Heights. Do you have (or know of) a garden that should be considered for inclusion in the tour? Please email lcrowder@mindspring.com (and put "Medlock Garden Tour" in the subject line) to recommend your own or a neighbor's garden. We're hoping to visit these gardens before the end of this summer to get an idea what they'll look like next year.

3rd Annual Medlock Area Garden Tour

From MANA and note that the new Community Garden is included: The Third Annual Funky Elegant Lush Summer Medlock Garden Tour is almost upon us! It features ten never-before-viewed new gardens along with two star repeats from last year, and a brand new offering: garden talks for adults and a children's craft activity.  Set for Saturday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., tickets are $6 in advance and may be purchased at Ace Hardware on Scott Boulevard as of June 26th. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the tour at Medlock School for $7.

If you care about trees and how they shape our communities, then join Trees Atlanta for an exciting and educational day of professional lectures, arboretum tours and tree giveaways as we embrace "Bringing the Arboretum Home" at our second annual City in the Arboretum conference. The program will build on information shared at our 2009 conference about establishing a neighborhood arboretum, but this year's gathering will appeal to new and old attendees alike.

DeKalb Master Gardeners Association plant sale

From "Ken Sharpe" ( kensharpe AT bellsouth.net) via Sagamore Hills neighborhood: This Saturday, April 24, from 9AM to 1PM, the DeKalb Master Gardeners Association is having its annual plant sale in the parking lot of the Northlake Mall in front of Macy's. We will be selling annuals, perennials, shrubs and some rare plants. The DMGA supports local gardening projects, particularly the Plant a Row for the hungry and the Atlanta Food Bank. We also support students studying horticulture at Georgia colleges. Several Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions.
