CANCELLED: "Recycle Your Life" in Decatur Feb. 13

Event Date and Time:
02/13/2010 - 9:00am - 2:00pm

Update 2/12/10 from Beth Bond bethbond@bellsouth.net: It is with a very deeply sad heart that I have decided that the safest, most prudent thing to do is to cancel Recycle Your Life tomorrow. Why cancel vs. postponed? We don't have a "snow" date (who the heck thought we would need one?) and the amount of time it takes to arrange all the moving parts is a good amount of work. We will have another one planned but not until June : )

Christmas Tree recycling through January 10

From KeepGeorgiaBeautiful.org: "Bring One for the Chipper is Georgia's annual Christmas tree recycling program. Each year, Keep Georgia Beautiful works with private sponsors to organize the recycling event. These statewide sponsors included The Home Depot, The Davey Tree Expert Company and WXIA-TV. Numerous local sponsors and volunteers also make contributions and provide in-kind services across the state. The Chipper program involves hundreds of Georgia communities and thousands of volunteers.

No Recycling Pickup Xmas week

Keep DeKalb Beautiful Electronics Recycling Event

Event Date and Time:
10/31/2009 - 9:00am - 1:00pm

Location: Avondale Wal Mart
Keep DeKalb Beautiful will offer residents of DeKalb County and metro Atlanta another opportunity to recycle their old electronic items properly and reduce the environmental liability of hazardous material entering DeKalb County’s Seminole Landfill. It’s estimated that there are at least 4.4 million PCs and 8 million Televisions in 3 million households in Georgia. This e-waste will eventually become 334,800 tons of e-waste that will end up in our landfills. Our goal is to promote the recovery, reuse and recycling of obsolete electronic equipment, and to encourage the design, manufacture and purchase of environmentally responsible electronic equipment.

ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT TO BE ACCEPTED:

From state rep. Stephanie Stuckey Benfield: If you are a Georgia Power customer and have a working secondary refrigerator you want to recycle, take advantage of Georgia Power's Refrigerator Recycling Program. Keep DeKalb Beautiful Spring Clean Up Day

Event Date and Time:
04/18/2009 - 9:00am - 1:00pm

Dear DeKalb Citizen: Each year Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) participates in Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Clean up initiative as a way of giving our communities a “Fresh Start.” With these difficult economic times, volunteers make the difference in sustaining beautiful, healthy, thriving communities. This April, we ask volunteers to help beautify DeKalb County by cleaning up dirty streets, waterways, and illegal dump sites; as well as by greening up parks, schoolyards, MARTA bus stops and other public spaces. On Saturday, April 18th, 2009, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., groups are asked to host community clean ups and beautification projects around the county. [CHCA and MANA plan to participate; details coming later.]
