From the Medlock Area Neighborhood Association [original copy with images attached]: February 2014 Medlock Neighborhood Watch E-letter.  Neighborhood Watch Meeting has been rescheduled for March 13, 2014.  7:00 pm at North Decatur Presbyterian Church.  The Neighborhood Watch needs YOU!  The best way to prevent crime is through the Neighborhood Watch.  It is important that ALL residents are informed about issues that may arise.  The best way to inform everybody is to have a Coordinator for the 60 grids that make up Medlock Park.  Coordinators share information within their grid and with the Neighborhood Watch team.  It is as simple as keeping an email list.  We need coordinators for 30 grids.  Please contact us to become a coordinator, to find out who your coordinator is or to sign up for the Watch

DeKalb Police Wanted notice for rape suspect

From Al Fowler, DeKalb Police: Wanted for Questioning In reference to Sexual Assaults.  The assaults occurred in the area around Clairmont Road and North Decatur Road. The suspect is described as being a white male in his 50’s, medium build and height. Suspect possibly has light colored facial hair.

Emory Village rape suspect sketch

From WSBTV: "Emory police have released a composite sketch of a suspect in the reported rape of a female Emory student.  The alleged attack happened near campus in a wooded area near Dowman Drive on Feb. 11 at about 11:15 p.m. The suspect was described as a man in his mid-to-late 50's, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a reddish or brown beard. He was wearing a brown knit cap, a tan or brown jacket, dark blue jeans and brown boots.

Burglary arrests

From Al Fowler, DeKalb Police: Over the weekend (Jan. 25 – 26, 2014), the NET Team worked late into the night taking a burglary suspect into custody at an area hotel.  This suspect has been connected to burglaries in the Sagamore Hills Community. At the same hotel room, another suspect was taken into custody on drug charges. This other suspect has a criminal background including burglary.  North Central detectives are following up.

Pedestrian Accidents in un-incorporated DeKalb County

From Al Fowler, DeKalb Police: In 2013, there have been 426 pedestrian involved accidents.  Of these crashes, twenty two(22) were fatal, and 404 involved non-fatal injuries.  Total pedestrian involved accidents have increased 8.7% in 2013.  Fatal accidents involving pedestrians have increased 10%. One of North Central Precinct’s focuses this year will be to reduce the number of pedestrian accidents through education and enforcement for both pedestrians and drivers who share the roadway.  We will be proactive in enforcing pedestrian failures to use available crosswalks.

Assault on Clairmont Circle 1/22/14

From the neighborhood Facebook group 1/22/14: We just had an incident occur on the corner of Clairmont Circle and Webster.  The exact details are a bit unclear at the moment but a young woman was stopped by a guy looking for directions. He then got in her car and tried to sexually assault her. The police are here taking her report so hopefully a full report will be available. ..... Just talked to cop, It was a white male, in his 50's with a beard. White skull cap and dark hoodie. Detectives are on their way.
