From Ben Smith for the Reporter Newspaper via CommunityRadar.com: "DeKalb County have greenlighted a plan by Marist School to expand the campus. The Board of Commissioners approved the plan Tuesday, March 16, over the objections of Kathie Gannon, the super-district commissioner who represents the area, and neighborhood residents who argue that the plan could be bad for the environment." From a neighbor of the Clairmont Hills Baptist Church at the corner of North Druid Hills Rd and Clairmont Rd: "This coming Tuesday [Jan. 26, 2010], at the meeting of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, the Commission will vote on a proposed change of zoning of the Clairmont Hills Baptist Church property... The purpose ... is 'officially' to allow the church to have an electronic message board on their existing sign - which is currently not allowed under the R-100 zoning. However, changes in zoning can have devastating effects on the surrounding properties! ....
From commissioner Jeff Rader, Oct 31, 2009: On October 30, the Georgia Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal by the owners of PURE nightclub of the recent decision in DeKalb Superior Court. The Supreme Court decision means that the location can no longer operate as a nightclub. Legislation approved last year that I sponsored prohibits nightclubs in the zoning district where PURE was located, and requires that the County Commission approve a Special Land Use Permit for any new business that serves alcohol and is open after 12:30 am.
From commissioner Jeff Rader Sep 10, 2009: Today, DeKalb County Government implemented a recent Superior Court decision to close Club Pure in the Williamsburg Village Shopping Center on Clairmont Road. I applaud CEO Burrell Ellis's response to my request this week to review the matter and take action. In revoking Pure’s Certificate of Occupancy as directed by the Court, the County places the business under authority of a new County Ordinance I sponsored last year to restrict Late Night Establishments and Nightclubs in our neighborhoods. Jeff Rader, DeKalb Commission, District 2

From Druid Hills Civic Association re. their June 17th Board Meeting Discussion on Alcohol Ordinance: "Thanks to everyone who attended the June 17th DHCA board meeting, and especially to Commissioners Kathie Gannon and Jeff Rader. We also thank our commissioners for bringing a draft revised ordinance that includes a buffer between restaurants that sell alcohol in the overlay district and homes that are adjacent to the district. We understand from their explanation that it is intended to be a straight line 50' buffer from property line to property line, in addition to setbacks.
From a resident next to the Williamsburg subdivision...
