Poop Removal Please be respectful of your neighbors and pick up after your dog. In addition, please keep our streets and creeks clean. County ordinance requires that owners not leave the excrement or poop bags on the street or in storm drains. Sec. 5-2. General responsibilities of owners (c) "It shall be the duty of every owner of an animal to immediately remove excrement deposited by the animal on any street or right-of-way." 22-74. Prohibition against littering public or private property or waters. (a) "It shall be unlawful for any operator of a conveyance or any person or persons to dump, deposit, throw or leave or to cause or permit the dumping, depositing, placing, throwing or leaving of litter on any public or private property or in any waters within DeKalb County...." Barking Please be respectful of your neighbors right to peace and quiet. While your barking dog may not bother you, others often do not feel the same. This is particularly true if your neighbor is attempting to enjoy peace and quiet in their own backyard. Under DeKalb County Code, dog owners can be cited, fined, and or brought to court for disturbance of the peace and/or other violations if they allow their dog to bark uncontrolled. Sec. 5-2. General responsibilities of owners d) "Domesticated or caged non-farm animals may not make any vocalizations for more than fifteen (15) minutes without interruption or more than thirty (30) minutes if the vocalization is intermittent."
