FEMA Buyout at 2056 Desmond Drive

CHCA residents may have noticed an unkempt yard at 2056 Desmond (on the north side, second property down from Melton Park). The property was bought out by FEMA and DeKalb County because of flooding from Glen Creek and will become county greenspace. The property is now technically the responsibility of the Roads and Drainage division of the county, not Parks and Recreation as one might expect. R&D therefore has responsibility for keeping it mowed until the house is demolished. It is about twelfth down in the current list of demo’s. It may be possible for CHCA to plant additional trees or a garden with county permission. Residents are invited to submit suggestions to the CHCA board at info@clairmontheights.org and the board will coordinate ideas with immediate neighbors.
