Mason Mill Park native species restoration project

Event Date and Time:
09/22/2012 - 9:00am - 1:00pm

From local neighbor and county greenspace manager Dave Butler: All; I met with Jenny Cruse Sanders and Matt Richards from ABG [Atlanta Botanical Garden] last week to discuss our plan for planting native species along the boardwalk at the park in our project area.  We hope to start that in November and continue through the winter/spring.  Meanwhile, we will work on Saturday September 22 [to prepare the site] and continue our removal of invasive privet, mahonia, eleagnus, and other non-native species.  Please join us if you can and spread the word about this great project.

One thing we noticed on our walk last week was the incredible diversity of tree and shrub species in the park and the multiple levels of natives on the slopes of the project area (on the boardwalk just beyond the steel bridge).  We will be supplementing this diversity with more plants later in the year.

Hope to see you on the 22nd.

Thanks,

Dave
