Tibetan Thangka painting class at Emory

THANGKA PAINTING CLASS WITH MASTER PAINTER TENZIN NORBU

SATURDAYS, FEBURARY 27 - MARCH 27, 1 - 4 PM, Emory University Carlos Museum, TATE ROOM, PLAZA LEVEL

In this unique five-week course Master Painter Tenzin Norbu from the Norbulingka Institute in Dharamsala, India, will guide participants in creating their own thangka painting. Students will learn about the principles of design of traditional Tibetan thangkas, the pigments and tools used to create them, and the choices that each individual artist makes within the traditional art form.

The Norbulingka Institute is is the Tibetan Government-in-Exile’s premier fine arts center for teaching, training, and research and, in his role as Master Painter, Tenzin Norbu is responsible for the training many of its artists.

Fee for the five-week course: $125 for Museum members; $145 for non-members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by calling 404.727.6118.
