On Saturday February 6th, neighborhood residents Eduardo Andrade, David Newton, John Drann, John Maynard and 8 members of Emory’s Sigma Nu fraternity (pictured below) took part in cleaning-up the CHCA neighborhood entry on North Superior. The CHCA Board coordinated with residents and the fraternity members in responding to an elderly neighbor’s request with help in cleaning his portion of the property abutting the neighborhood entry. Nearly 100 bags of leaves and tree litter were gathered and bagged from just North of the City of Decatur line to N. Decatur Road. In addition to removing leaf and tree debris from the area, the curb was cleaned and a large amount of ivy was removed from the Dogwood and Redbud trunks lining the area. Finally, nearly 100 small plants were planted in the area of the entry sign. These should look great come Spring!
If you are interested in organizing a clean-up effort near your home contact a CHCA Board member and we can help get the word out. Not interested in a group effort? Property owner’s can help themselves, their neighbors and the environment by keeping their curbs leaf and litter free – remember if it is at the curb it will eventually find its way into our creeks and rivers – potentially blocking neighborhood drainage along the way.
