From Emory: To the Emory Community: The annual Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon will take place this Sunday, March 18, 2012 beginning at 7:00 a.m. from Centennial Olympic Park. As in previous years, part of the marathon route runs from downtown Decatur along Clairmont Road, on North Decatur Road heading towards Emory, and briefly on Clifton Road and Fishburne Drive. Runners exit Emory’s campus via Dowman Drive. Travelers on these roads should expect lane closures and possible delays until approximately noon on Sunday.
From Chris Beck, President: Come join us this Saturday, March 17, from 9am-12pm for a volunteer day. Check out the progress on the new kiosk/pavilion and then help us maintain trails and continue habitat restoration after the privet removal.

From state rep. Mary Margaret Oliver: March 13, 2012 Session Completes Day 32! This is Mary Margaret Oliver’s fifth email newsletter for the 2012 General Assembly Session which convened January 9, 2011, and has completed 32 days of the 40 day Session. In each newsletter, I ask how you would vote on a pending bill or budget item. I am very grateful for your thoughtful responses and I personally read all your answers. Thank you for your interest and opinions!
Fifth newsletter question: In the Governor's Criminal Justice Reform Commission's Report and recommendations, and in HB 1176 that is the bill to create the reforms, mere possession of an illegal drug shall be presumed to be an offense penalized with probation and not time in jail. At present, 3200 prisoners in the state prisons are incarcerated for possession of drugs alone, with no other offense charged.
